Noir Riot is to be a biennial literary journal published in conjunction with NoirCon, a crime fiction conference that has taken place on even-numbered years since 2008.

Our goal is to offer a comprehensive, up-to-the-minute examination of the noir universe, with contributions from both rising stars and authors of worldwide renown, and sections dedicated to fiction, nonfiction and poetry.

This project was conceived of by Lou Boxer, organizer of NoirCon, and Matthew Louis, founding editor of Out of the Gutter and Gutter Books.

Serving as managing editor is Cullen Gallagher, a Brooklyn-based freelance writer, expert on all things noir and hard-boiled, and regular contributor at the Los Angeles Review of Books.

Noir Riot will be distributed in print throughout the US and Canada, as well as available in all eBook formats. Content will be acquired through open submissions and invitations. In classic pulp magazine tradition, payment will be one penny per word, based on final word-count.
